the inferior cerebellar peduncle is located in the anteroinferior part of the cerebellum below the middle peduncle. it mainly carries
AFFERENT TRACTS
posterior spinocerebellar tract - carries proprioceptive sensation
posterior external arcuate fibers (cuneocerebellar tract)
Arise from the nucleus gracilis and the nucleus cutaneous. the internal arcuate fires cross
to the opposite side to form the paramedian band of fibers called the median lemniscus.
They provide input from the upper limb and neck.
olivocerebellar tract -
relays information from the cortex that projects into the inferior olive, it continues as the
inferior fibers and crosses the midline to terminate in the Purkinje fibers.
parolivecerebellar tract
reticulocerebellar tract
originates at various levels of the reticular tract and terminates in the vermis.
vestibulocerebellar tract
pathway that joins ponitine cerebellum to the cerebellar cortex.
anterior external arcuate fibers
external arcuate fibers that lie close to the median lemniscus.
striae medullares
trigeminocerebellar tract
proprioceptive information from the face.
EFFERENT TRACTS
cerebellovestibular tract
- this is an output from the cerebellum to the extensor muscle to coordinate muscle movement
cerebello- olivary
- the fibers originate from the olivary nucleus, passes through hiluim and crosses over with opposite fibres and terminates in the purikiji fibres
cerebelloreticular tract
- relays information to the motor units of brain
